"Simple and Definite" Goals

Power by Pavel Newsletter, Issue 97, 09/01/06
In 1926 George S. Clason wrote in his classic book The Richest Man in Babylon, "Desires must be simple and definite. They defeat their own purpose should they be too many, too confusing or beyond a man's training to accomplish."

May I suggest a set of training goals for this year, ambitious yet realistic for regular comrade:

The USSS snatch will build a fighting man's spirit and conditioning, melt the fat without the dishonor of aerobics, develop hard driving hip power for unstoppable tackles and hard hits, and make other men take notice when you shake hands. 200 reps are acceptable on the Counter Assault Team.

The heavy kettlebell press builds an upper body ready to take and dish out punishment. In some parts of Russia pressing a two-pood is a rite of passage from boy to man. As it should be.

Training
Do lladders up to 5 reps with the C&P and timed sets of various length (e.g. 2-12min determined by the roll of dice) and various intensity. 3/week.
